With prospects of a gradual reopening of institutions of learning in March, following months of Covid 19 disruption, learners and administrators are grappling with online learning as they try to catch up on missed studies and fit in the new school schedules.

Since March last year when tertiary institutions closed as a measure to curb the Covid-19 spread, each day that goes by leaves many students in the dark without knowing when normalcy will be reinstated. It is now 10 months and counting of students and lecturers’ frustration for different reasons, especially limitations that come with online classes.

It has been two months of planning for a three-day getaway from the hustle and bustle of Kampala. I and 15 others wanted to explore cool tourist destinations in Jinja and celebrate a birthday of a friend.
A WhatsApp group was created and named ‘Happy People,’ days prior to set off. A new contact is added to the group each hour that goes by and at the end, the group has 20 members.
