What was supposed to be an evening of romance ended in a shootout on Detroit s west side Friday night.
At around 9:30 p.m., a 57-year-old man went to a location on the 9300 block of Woodside where he was supposed to meet a woman he met on a dating site.
Instead, he was faced with an armed 18-year-old man who attempted to rob him at gunpoint, according to Detroit police.
The man, who was also armed and licensed to carry, took out his gun and exchanged gunfire with the other man
Both men were struck multiple times and taken to a hospital. They are both listed in critical condition. Police recovered weapons from the scene.
