The sun shined bright at exactly 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon when a brown curtain dropped from the side of the Arabic American and Chaldean Council s 55 W. 7 Mile Road building in Detroit to unveil a towering Black man in a blue firefighter’s Class A uniform.
Detroit Fire Capt. Franklin Williams, covered with images of Detroit first responders and front line workers, looked out from the wall to face his former workplace: Engine 44, Ladder 18.
The mural, prominently featuring Williams as the first Detroit firefighter to die from COVID-19, was unveiled the day before Memorial Day a day used to honor service members who died in the line of duty to honor the memory of front-line workers who died from COVID-19.

Lt. Mark Young and Sherry Gay-Dagnogo reflected on the loss of loved ones on the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic.
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Detroit Police Capt. Jonathan Parnell died almost a year ago from COVID-19.
He was a 31-year veteran of the force when he died.

DETROIT (WXYZ) â Detroit Police are investigating a deadly New Year s Eve shooting just outside the downtown area off of I-96.
It happened near the Jefferies Service Drive and Putnam Avenue just after 10 a.m. Thursday. Someone called 911 to report shots fired at a blue Toyota SUV, which Detroit Police later found in an empty field just off of the freeway.

As she had during her other Facebook Live dispatches using them to express her love and vowing never to give up Monique updated her condition, which was deteriorating. It was March 23, 2020, her sixth day in the hospital. Messages of prayers and well-wishes poured in. Monique said she was having difficulty talking.
