Comerica Park hosts 2,626-step stair climb for lung disease awareness Miriam Marini, Detroit Free Press © Kirthmon F. Dozier, Detroit Free Press Locals from all over the state took part in the Lung Association Stair Climb at Comerica Park Sunday, May 23 2021. Participants had got chances to walk the steps of the lower bowl and the steeper upper bowl to rase one for the organization. With her brother s name pinned to the back of her T-shirt, Nancy Austin did a few jumping jacks to warm up before climbing 2,626 steps at Comerica Park on Sunday.  Austin, who s a physical education teacher at Mackenzie Elementary-Middle School, was one of hundreds to participate Sunday in the annual American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb. It s the first time the event has been held at the park, and the climb raises awareness and fundraises for lung disease education and clean air advocacy.
