determinative difference, you either have to be a politically motivated billionaire or organization. big money in politics comes from corporations that disproportionately support republicans and unions that disproportionately support democrats. republican supporting corporations are dominant and the only ones supporting democrats are unions. if you are somehow able to get rid of unions to take them out of the mix, you are able to get rid of the democratic s party to compete. the only thing you have left is corporations spending hand over fist for republicans and they ll win every election every time. over the last half a century, union membership has plummeted across the country, gone from 39% of salaries to 12% now. one place it is still going strong, most of the people in unions are public sector unions that work for state and local governments.
