MURFREESBORO, TN - An Indiana man has been convicted on a sexual crime in Murfreesboro after the case was investigated by the MPD Special Victims Unit.
Matthew E. Reed, a 55-year-old from Indiana, has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to two counts of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure in the Circuit Courts of Rutherford County. District Attorney Jennings Jones summarized the case.

MURFREESBORO, TN - A teenager by the name of Kezyian Jarome Lawrence was reported as missing. One of the 16-year-olds parents contacted Murfreesboro Police and told detectives they last saw him on August 9, 2023.
The MPD reported a parent was able to contact him via text message, but he refuses to return home or to give that parent his location. The teen has been entered into the National Crime & Information Center (NCIC) database as missing.

UPDATE: According to MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers, 17-year-old missing/runaway juvenile Layla Humphrey was found safe in Gallatin, TN on Wednesday. Flowers stated, “Our agency had to wait until her name was officially removed from the National Crime & Information Center database before the missing/runaway - be on the lookout could be canceled.”
