NEW BEDFORD An elderly New Bedford man was arrested Monday on charges including possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
On Dec. 28, New Bedford Police detectives seized a sawed-off shotgun, 6.4 grams of cocaine, 3 suboxone film strips, 4 shotgun shells, 2 rounds of .380 auto, drug paraphernalia and $1,504 at 69 Nelson St. Apt. 2E, according to a news release from police.
Joseph Smith, 67, was subsequently arrested and charged with drug possession and several firearms-related offenses including possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
The case was investigated by Detective Matthew Sylvia.

New Bedford Police detectives on Monday seized a sawed-off shotgun, 6.4 grams of cocaine, three suboxone film strips, four shotgun shells, two rounds of .380 auto, drug paraphernalia, and $1504 in cash at 69 Nelson St. Apt. 2E, according to a press release from NBPD communications director Melissa Batchilder.
Joseph Smith, 67, was arrested and charged with drug possession and several firearms-related offenses including possession of a sawed-off shotgun, a press release from the department said.
The case was investigated by Detective Matthew Sylvia. The police department provided no additional information.
