there are thousands across the state of north carolina without power right now. as for the outer banks, they have fared fairly well. evacuation orders that were given were taken seriously. absolutely no one is on the roads. very desolate here on the outer banks. additionally, there was a curfew put in place at 8:00 p.m. that has extended until noon on the outer banks just so authorities can have daylight, check out any possible damage and see if there are flooded roadways. one thing that is still a strong concern is what s behind me. the water creeping up the beach. it is getting closer. the waves are getting stronger. a possible storm surge of 4 to 7 feet. officials say that could put a lot of these low-lying areas under water. and also cause a significant increase in those power outages. so they are keeping an eye on all of that as these conditions continue to detear kwraeut.
