Three people have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering, the government’s National Investigation Service said. The agency, which investigates corruption in the public sector, said the alleged fraud involved the use of false information and documents to obtain Bounce Back loans from various banks. The loan scheme, which lent out more than £45bn to small and medium-sized businesses to help them remain afloat during the pandemic, let firms to apply for loans of up to £50,000. The loans were backed by the government.
