A 29-year-old man has walked free from court after a jury took less than an hour to acquit of threatening to kill a woman, falsely imprisoning her and aggravated burglary at her home in Co Cork last year.
Jamie McKenzie broke down in tears when the jury of nine men and three women returned ânot guiltyâ verdicts on all three charges on the third day of his trial at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
McKenzie from Dun Eoin, Carrigaline, Co Cork had earlier pleaded guilty to a fourth charge of obstructing Garda Tony Devane at Kingswood, Carrigaline on March 28th, 2020 and was given a three month suspended sentence.

A Northern Irish man arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of Det Garda Adrian Donohoe is a suspect for a spate of armed ATM robberies.
The 32-year-old from Co Armagh is believed to have taken part in the robbery at Lordship Credit Union in Co Louth on January 25th, 2013, during which Det Garda Donohoe was shot dead.
Gardaí suspect he also helped to steal the car that was used by the raiders on the night of the incident. Security sources say there is strong evidence to place him at the scene that night and gardaí are confident of progressing the case.
