Dimapur Police to remove street vendors Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): In the interest and safety of the public and for the smooth flow of vehicular traffic, Dimapur Police has informed that any street hawker/ vendors found to be illegally occupying the public footpath and roadside vehicle parking areas along Nyamo Lotha Road, New Market, Circular Road and Clock Tower area would be remove. The Dimapur commissioner of police, Kevithuto Sophie cautioned that such obstruction and defaulters would be liable for punitive action under relevant provision with immediate effect. Our Correspondent Kohima, Nov. 8 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kohima, Shanavas C, on Tuesday, encouraged children to be confident and hold their heads high, regardless of circumstances, to excel in life. He was speaking as special guest at the Children’s Day celebration organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) for Child Care Institution, at Highland Park in Kohima. He told the children to strive for excellence with confidence; while reminding them that there is no shortcut to success and no substitute for hardwork. The official, while expressing delight at the performances of the children, said they were talented and second to none. He highlighted the life story of former President of India, APJ Kalam, who became the first citizen of the country, even though he had a humble beginning. Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): As part of its annual activity, the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Kohima Law College (KLC) visited Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH) on November 2 and held a fellowship with the children. An update from KLC informed that the team contributed basic kitchen needs such as rice and dal to the orphanage. During the fellowship, the college’s principal, Soni Tep, shared the life story of Joseph from the Bible, while assistant professor, Kezhokhoto Savi, presented a motivational talk by narrating the story of an Indian billionaire and how a small disabled child changed his life and mindset. Stating that their visit to KODH and seeing the smiling faces bring happiness, Savi advised the children to remain a blessing to many in the days to come, especially with the approaching of Christmas season. Dimapur, Oct. 25 (EMN): Ghaspani battalion of the Assam Rifles celebrated Diwali with the residents and village council members in Ghaspani, Nihokhu, Kukidolong, Piphema, Zubza and T’ Khel Model Village under Chümoukedima, Niuland and Kohima districts on October 24. A defence release stated that the more that 30 children from Orphanage and Destitute Home in T’ Khel Model village, Kohima, also joined the festivities with the AR troops. The celebration was attended by Commander of 6 Sector AR as well as officers and GBs. In a related programme, Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles celebrated Diwali in Peren district on the same day. It stated that the troops celebrated Diwali at Christian Servanthood Ministry Orphanage in Peren town, Maova village, Inbung village and at Jalukie garrison. It stated that sweets were distributed to children, older people, GBs, members of youth unions and women society etc. It added that a total of 196 villagers including GBs and children of Or
