Next Gen Voices host ‘Creative Minds: Celebrating Artists of Color in Newton’

Next Gen Voices, a civic engagement club at Newton North, recently held Creative Minds: Celebrating Artists of Color in Newton.
There were over 18 pieces of art from students of color in Newton including photos, paintings, essays and monologues. The speakers included Principal Henry Turner, artist Raquel Fornasaro, senior Edie Pike and Destiny Palmer, who submitted a video describing her artistic process. There was also a performance from Simone Isabelle, who sang Ex Factor by Lauren Hill. In addition to art, FORJ was also at the event. There were also art activities including a mask decorating station as well as a community poster.
