The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns lost the rebound battle in Monday’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game and it played a significant role in them losing an NCAA Tournament berth. Troy pulled down 58 rebounds and scored 24 second-chance points in a 73-65 victory over Louisiana inside the Pensacola Bay Center. The Trojans have now defeated the Ragin’ Cajuns twice in the SBC Championship Game since 2017.

The Ragin’ Cajuns overcame a sluggish first quarter to overtake the Little Rock Trojans 58-48 in their Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinal game at Pensacola Bay Center on Sunday afternoon. Louisiana went 4-0 against Little Rock this season. HOW IT HAPPENED: After the two teams traded three pointers to start the game, Little Rock grabbed a lead with a three-pointer by Mayra Caicedo and then a layup off a turnover by Tia Harvey. A few minutes later, Little Rock pushed the lead to six with another three by Caicedo.

Louisiana hosted UT Arlington Monday afternoon and defeated the Mavericks 57-48 behind Ty Doucet’s game-high 21 points. This was the ninth straight win for the Ragin’ Cajuns. They are now 10-5 overall for the season and 9-1 in Sun Belt Conference play. How It Happened: Ragin’ Cajuns forward Kimberly Burton started the contest with an offensive rebound and second chance layup to put the team up 2-0. UT Arlington took their first lead of the game with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter. Shyia Smith’s layup gave the Mavericks a 7-6 lead.
