UH track and field seniors shine at final regular season meet UH track and field’s women’s 4×100-meter relay team exchanges the baton on its way to victory in the event at the Tom Tellez Invitational. | Courtesy of UH athletics In the final regular season meet of 2021, the Houston track and field team picked up several first-place and podium finishes in the Tom Tellez Invitational. Graduate students Mikaila Martin and Taylor Scaife started UH off in the right direction in the field events to start the meet, finishing second and third place in the women’s hammer throw with tosses of 66.89 and 64.22 meters respectively.

Highlighting the first day of action were two personal-best times, with the first belonging to junior Devin Vallejo-Bannister who clocked in a time of 3:49.40 for an eighth-place finish in the men’s 1500-meter run.

Long-standing UH track and field record broken in competitions at LSU UH track and field junior Nu’uausala Tuilefano broke a 34-year-old program record in the shot put on Saturday. | Courtesy of UH athletics After one day of competition at the Boots Garland Invitational, the Houston track and field team put on a strong showing en route to picking up The weekend was highlighted by junior Nu’uausala Tuilefano, who shattered a 34-year-old program record in the shot put with a toss of 5.31 meters each, with senior Ben Percefull finishing in third place at 39.00 led by junior Nicholas Alexander, senior Travis Collins, sophomore Edward Sumler IV and freshman Shaun Maswanganyi.
