UH track and field seniors shine at final regular season meet

In the final regular season meet of 2021, the Houston track and field team picked up several first-place and podium finishes in the Tom Tellez Invitational.
Graduate students Mikaila Martin and Taylor Scaife started UH off in the right direction in the field events to start the meet, finishing second and third place in the women’s hammer throw with tosses of 66.89 and 64.22 meters respectively.

Two days of competition at the Texas Invite saw the Houston track and field team produce new personal-best and program records, as the Cougars managed to secure several top 10 and podium finishes over the weekend in Austin.
Highlighting the first day of action were two personal-best times, with the first belonging to junior Devin Vallejo-Bannister who clocked in a time of 3:49.40 for an eighth-place finish in the men’s 1500-meter run.

5.31 meters each, with senior Ben Percefull finishing in third place at
39.00 led by junior Nicholas Alexander, senior Travis Collins, sophomore Edward Sumler IV and freshman Shaun Maswanganyi.
