Georgia State s spring game is ten days away, and there are many questions left to answer

Spring is upon us, which means Georgia State football offseason training is live and in full effect.  The Panthers started spring practice back on March 9. Their annual Spring Game, a first chance for the public to see the team, comes on April 16.  The game will be the first time the fans see the team play at Center Parc Stadium since beating Georgia Southern 30-14 in November.  It seems like time is flying, as the team just wrapped up a great 6-4 season with a win over Western Kentucky in the Lending Tree Bowl.  The Panthers spring game will feature 22 returning starters, headlined by wide receiver Sam Pinckney, running back Destin Coates, safety Antavious Lane and tight end Roger Carter. 

Brown, Georgia State top WKU 39-21 in LendingTree Bowl

MOBILE, Ala. Georgia State’s second trip to Mobile this season was even more successful than its first. The Panthers scored touchdowns on four consecutive first-half possessions Saturday in the LendingTree Bowl in a 39-21 victory over Western Kentucky at at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Georgia State (6-4) beat Sun Belt Conference rival South Alabama 31-14 on Nov. 21, across town at Hancock Whitney Stadium. Redshirt freshman Cornelius “Quad” Brown threw for 226 yards and three second-quarter touchdowns. Destin Coates added 117 yards and a touchdown rushing, part of a 227-yard day on the ground for Georgia State. Brown threw an interception on the Panthers’ second possession, leading to a talking-to from coach Shawn Elliott.

That ended in a 39-21 victory for the Panthers in the LendingTree Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. With the victory, the Panthers get their program’s second bowl win and improve their overall bowl record to 2-2. Their other bowl victory also came against Western Kentucky back in the 2017 Cure Bowl. The Panthers took a 27-7 lead into halftime and never looked back. Cornelius “Quad” Brown IV threw four touchdown passes with Mikele Colasurdo also adding a touchdown pass. All of Brown’s touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter. Georgia State’s passing attack totaled 257 yards with another 227 rushing yards added.

The Panthers are the 2020 LendingTree Bowl champions The Georgia State Panthers defeated the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 39-21 in the LendingTree Bowl Saturday afternoon. This bowl is the second win for the Panthers in their fourth appearance, and the team made it count. After a Quad Brown interception led to a rocky 7-0 deficit for Georgia State, head coach Shawn Eliott knew his team needed to lock-in and focus. “I was hot after that interception. That’s not how you win the game,” Elliott said regarding the miscommunication.  The freshman and the whole team never looked back. The Panthers roared back with 27 unanswered points in the first half.
