Blustery out here at mavericks. Yet a handful of surfers are out here practicing as some were when the incident happened. Two men in a small boat decided to come out and watch and almost didnt get to go home. This is what is left of their small boat, wrecked on the jetty and still not safe from kra crashing waves. The waves were up to 18 feet in fight, rolling in every 20 seconds or so. One of those waves flipped the boat upside down, spilling the occupants into the water, they were not wearing life vests and were fortunate they werent seriously hurt or killed. When a boat overturns, most of the time somebody getting stuck underneath that boat or gets bumped in the head by something on that boat as it goes over and they were lucky to get away from the boat and not have that happen. It was a big boat and everybody had to scramble out of the way and there was nothing you could do. Reporter ben was nearby surfing when it happened. The senate failed to approve a shortterm deal to fund the government for another month. The bill had already passed in the house. At the heart of the debate, defefrd action for child hoold arrives, also known as daca. Democrats want to guarantee brokes for nearly 800,000 brought to american as a child. They want to shove aside millions of americans for the sake of irresponsible political gains. The blame you this crash entirely on President Trumps shoulders. This will be called a trump shutdown. The white house says negotiations on daca are off until the government reopens. Lawmakers are working through the weekend to try and strike a deal
