A woman in Nyamira pleaded guilty to killing her husband following a disagreement over the sale of their land.
Hellen Nyaboke, a mother of two in her 50s, is charged with killing her husband James Mecha at their family house in Isinta, Nyamira South by hitting him with a metal rod. She pleaded guilty when she appeared before Nyamira High Court judge Esther Maina.
Nyamira Director of Public Prosecutions Desmond Majale said the couple had a quarrel which resulted in a physical fight.

After the incident, Nyaboke fled with her two children but she was arrested five months later in North Mugirango.

Nine candidates have been charged at the Nyamira Law Courts for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice.
The suspects appeared before Principal Magistrate Mourine Nyigei on Wednesday at about 4 pm during a special hearing convened after normal sessions ended at 1 pm.
The candidates were accused of having the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) test materials for Chemistry Paper 3 at the Nyamira Town examinations centre.
The suspects, who include six candidates from a private examination centre, pleaded not guilty.
Nyamira county Director of Public Prosecutions officer Desmond Majale said the charges preferred were holding, and that the right charges would be brought forth.

The suspects were arrested from two examination centers, one in Nyamira South and another in Manga Sub-county, after they were arrested on suspicion of cheating in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
Six are private candidates from a center in Nyamira Town while the other seven include an exam center manager who is also the institution’s principal, a supervisor, two invigilators, a chemistry teacher, and a lab technician from the same learning center.
