The Desmond Hotel celebrated 50 years in business on Tuesday, Feb. 13. Founded by Philadelphia native John K. Desmond Jr. in January 1974, the hotel now known as Crowne Plaza Albany remains a family business and a gateway to the Capital Region for travelers, as well as a gathering place for the local community.
