The African Film Festival and Academy Awards (also known as ZAFAA) has nominated Sierra Leone renowned Actor and producer, Desmond Finney in the movie title: IbuIn Sierra Leone for the Best New Comer 2013 awards category.
Another Sierra Leonean, Collins Archie Pearce will also be recognized for his contribution to the growth to The African Film Industry. This is the first time Sierra Leoneans have been nominated for the awards. Mr. Finney will be competition with his Nigerian and Ghanaian counterparts in that category.
The African Film Festival and Academy Awards is a highly regarded and anticipated film event within the African communities and has already become a part of the UK’s annual cultural calendar. Through ZAFAA Global Awards UK, the African film plans to rebrand its movie industry with the intention of re-launching itself into the international movie market on the same level as other global movie industries.
