Mayor de Blasio Joins Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, Nanotronics & New York State to Open High-Tech Manufacturing Center
Mayor de Blasio today joined the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC), Nanotronics, Empire State Development (ESD) and CUNY s Medgar Evers College for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the company’s flagship manufacturing center located in the Navy Yard s historic Building 20, a 150-year-old former shipbuilding factory. The opening reinforces the Navy Yard’s mission to anchor the rebirth of urban manufacturing, create sustainable urban manufacturing jobs and grow the modern industrial sector in New York City, and comes as the city is focused on reopening and getting New Yorkers back to work. A Buffalo manufacturer is expanding, and it will get state tax credits to help pay for it.
Empire State Development announced Monday that it will give Eastman Machine Company up to $210,000 in tax credits in exchange for creating jobs.
Eastman, a cutting and material machine manufacturer, is located on Washington Street and is planning to add 7,400 square feet by the end of this year for loading docks, materials storage, and automated assembly.

La Plaza de Virginia Will Offer 46 Affordable and Supportive Homes for Seniors with Community Senior Service Center and Café

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the start of construction on a $17 million affordable housing development that will offer 46 affordable homes for seniors in Buffalo. Known as La Plaza de Virginia, the development will also include a community senior service center and café. The developer is Hispanos Unidos de Buffalo, a nonprofit organization that provides integrated social services to underserved communities in the Buffalo area. La Plaza de Virginia is part of Governor Cuomo s unprecedented $20 billion, five-year affordable Housing Plan.
