A rich program of cultural events and activities is on offer at RMIT’s venues with The Capitol and RMIT Gallery reopening this month and creative residencies once again resuming at McCraith House.
RMIT Culture venues also include Design Hub and First Site Galleries and art, design and film research collections as well as programs, fellowships and prizes.
The University’s RMIT Culture team is thrilled to welcome students, staff and the wider community back into its spaces this month, with COVIDSafe procedures in place.
Paula Toal, Head of Cultural and Public Engagement, said she was excited to be welcoming students back on campus to engage with just a taste of what RMIT Culture has to offer.
Students place in forensic tourney
Two Fox Chapel Area High School students placed at the virtual Deer Lakes Invitational Forensic Tournament. Freshman Isabella White won second place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and received her first bid to qualify for the Pennsylvania High School Speech League State Championships.
Sophomore Silas Owens won sixth place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
The tournament was Feb. 20 with about 215 students participating.

Fox Chapel spring musical scheduled
The Fox Chapel Area High School 2021 spring musical, “Songs for a New World,” will be presented online April 15 to 18.
Show times are 7 p.m. on April 15, 16 and 17 and 2 p.m. on April 18.

A total of 39 Shady Side Academy students in grades 8-12 won 71 awards in the 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards regional competition.
The winners include 19 eighth graders from SSA Middle School and 20 students at SSA Senior School.
Twelve students won Gold Keys to advance to the national competition, for which medalists will be announced March 17.
Gold Key art winners were: freshman Benjamin Bischoff in Drawing & Illustration for Last Breath; junior Marnie McCormick in Ceramics & Glass for two works, Molten Bowl and A Bowl Made for Lemons; freshman Yuntong Pan in Painting for Rest; senior Melissa Riggins in Ceramics & Glass for Waterfall; and senior Xinru “Vita” Yang in Drawing & Illustration for three works: two self-portraits and Umbrella.
