DISCOVERY Hospitality Corp. (DHC) has signed a contract with Samal Shores, Inc. to manage the latter’s resort project in Davao del Norte’s Samal island that is set to open next year.
“The opening of Discovery Samal is part of the commitment of DHC to widen our reach across strategic locations,” DHC Chief Operating Officer and Discovery World President Jose C. Parreno, Jr. said in a statement on Tuesday.
The contract will add the upcoming project to the portfolio of hotels and resorts under the property management company of publicly listed Discovery World Corp. Samal Shores is a subsidiary of CSG Holdings Corp.

Albuquerque-based engineering firm Verus Research won a four-year, $15 million U.S. Army contract for the testing and evaluation of high-power microwave systems, the company announced Monday.
LinQuest Corp. subsidiary TMC Design Corp. will manage the Verus contract for the Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation. The new contract builds on prior work Verus has done for the Army under a contract it won in 2014 to design effective methods to test and evaluate microwave and other “directed energy” weapons and systems.
Under the new contract, the company will further design and test specialized sensors to measure new and evolving microwave capabilities, as well as novel tools to assess damage that takes place during battle and better simulate high-power microwave scenarios.
