Board members will vote on a resolution to have Wendy Jonathan s Area 1 seat appear on November s general election ballot. Jonathan recently announced she will resign her seat in August.
The district plans to finance its share of the officers’ compensation from a fund designed to support low-income, English learner and foster youth students.
DSUSD approves proposal to bring all students back to campus four days per week
The Desert Sands Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved a proposal to bring all students back to campus four days per week instead of two.
This will go into effect on May 3. This would not impact students who have elected to stay on distance learning completely.
There was plenty of input of parents and DSUSD staff during the two-hour special meeting. Board members said there were more than 300 written comments for this topic.

Another wave of students will be heading back to the classroom in just under 2 weeks. On Tuesday night the Desert Sands Unified School District Board voted to bring back middle and high school students in an approved in-person hybrid learning approach by March 29.
Tuesday also marked a milestone for Riverside County as it was determined that the region met state metrics, allowing it to transition to the less restrictive red tier.
Although planning had already been in the works, under the tier change schools [could] reopen fully for in-person instruction. Local school officials will decide whether and when that will occur.
