Harry W. Castro, a World War II veteran and former Hawaii resident passed away in Bullhead City Arizona. He was the last of his seven siblings. Harry was born to Manuel and Mary Castro and was raised on the island of Oahu in Waipahu where his father was a foreman for Waipahu Plantation. Living on Oahu he earned a scholarship to play baseball at what was called St. Louis College. He played double A baseball for many years as a pitcher and was a member of the Hawaii Baseball League. Harry was working at Pearl Harbor Naval Base as a sheet metal worker when war broke out in Hawaii with the devastation of Pearl Harbor. Harry wanted to serve his county and en-listed at Schofield Barracks and later received Basic Training in Tyler, Texas. At the time his branch of service was known as a U.S. Arm Air Force. His tour of duty took him to Japan, Okinawa, Guam, Kwajalein, Saipan, Philippines, Korea, Midway Atoll, Johnson Atoll, and Enewetak Atoll. When the war ended his uni
Riverside County health officials on Tuesday reported an additional 1,291 coronavirus cases and 36 new virus-related deaths since Monday, as the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations continued to shatter records.
The county has confirmed 151,713 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, according to its COVID-19 dashboard. With the addition of 36 virus-related fatalities, the county s death toll increased to 1,789 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Riverside County COVID-19 Dashboard announced that city/community data would be updated Wednesday.
The county only reports fatalities, for any cause, after death certificates have been submitted and recorded.

Over the past 24 hours, coronavirus hospitalizations in Riverside County increased by 28 patients, officially putting the county over 1,000 patients for the very first time.
Riverside County is now the fifth county in the state to pass 1,000 patients.
COVID patients admitted into the ICU continued to increase, today it was by 17 patients. With the county s ICU bed availability percentage at 0%, hospitals continue to move into their surge plans, converting rooms to make space for more patients.

“Its a good news situation at a time when there is plenty of not so great news when it comes to the numbers and impact of the pandemic on our community, said Jose Arballo Jr, public information specialist for Riverside County Health.
