The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has released the 911 recording and bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting that killed Royce Robertson, 33, of Joshua Tree on February 15. The shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., just inside the gates of the Desert Horizons Country Club in Indian Wells. Prior to the shooting, a 911 call was made reporting that Robertson had pointed a handgun at and made threatening statements towards the driver of another vehicle, asking him, “Do you want to die today?” After the incident, Robertson fled the scene in his vehicle. When deputies attempted to pull Robertson over, he kept driving until he reached the entrance of the Desert Horizons Country Club and stopped his car just inside the gate. Palm Springs Desert Sun Dozens of people led by a bagpiper marched along Highway 62 on Sunday, processing into the Joshua Tree Coffee Company and placing white roses in a vase in memory of the business  owner, Royce Robertson. Nearly 100 people gathered for the memorial service for the 33-year-old Joshua Tree man who was fatally shot by two Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 15 in Indian Wells. Mourners  delivered testimonials from a parking lot across the street from the coffee shop. Vigil held in Joshua Tree for man killed in deputy-involved shooting The family of a man killed in a deputy-involved shooting last month held a vigil for him in Joshua Tree Sunday afternoon. Friends and family gathered to remember Royce Robertson, 33, who was also the founder of Joshua Joshua Tree Coffee Company. The vigil started at the coffee ship with people lining up to place a single white rose near an image of Robertson. We all loved him because he didn’t do anything but love others, said Jennifer Goodson, a friend of Robertson s. Later on, people walked across the street where a podium and chairs were set up. Several people shared some of their fondest memories of Robertson, while others simply talked about the person he was. Many spoke on the love Robertson had for the community.
