A founder of the Edmundston Jazz and Blues Festival, Guerette was a musician, composer, musical director and arranger who brought a knowledge and love for jazz music to the region. He died Sunday morning with his partner and children by his side, according to his family. Guerette offered musical workshops to students at Francophone high school Cité des Jeunes A.-M.-Sormany in Edmundston and was part of numerous musical groups, including Les Quintones.

Festivalâs second annual virtual edition, and 35th annual overall, will feature more than 50 original performances from artists representing more than 15 countries, interspersed with archival footage from Festivals past. With COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations on the rise, the Liberal Opposition caucus chair asks that students in New Brunswick’s hot zone be kept at home. Madawaska-Les Lacs-Edmundston MLA Francine Landry has recommended that the province implement a distance education approach for the entire week in the Edmundston region (Zone 4) to ease concerns. “Parents and teachers are very concerned with the number of cases reported in schools, the significant number of people self-isolating and two recent outbreaks in long-term care facilities,” said Landry. La Cité des Jeunes A.-M.-Sormany, a high school in the Edmundston region, notified the community last Thursday of a case within the school.
