SPEEDING drivers who use Jersey’s roads as a racetrack should have their vehicles seized and destroyed, Island officials have said.The call for tougher penalties for those tearing along roads and country lanes – often during organised night-time .
Until the end of September, dogs will be banned from certain beaches in Guernsey and people in Jersey will have to keep them on the lead between certain hours.

Chief of police Robin Smith outlined that recorded crimes for December were down 54% compared with last year, while reports of Covid-related matters have ‘thankfully been minimal’.
He said: ‘Festive periods are often one of our busiest times of the year. However, this year – for obvious reasons – has been like no other, with significant reductions in crime and routine calls for service. Officers offered advice and guidance where necessary, but have not needed to use enforcement powers as individuals have quickly complied with the restrictions.
‘We were enormously grateful to Islanders over the festive period and in particular their response to “staying home” this New Year’s Eve.
