FORMER Derry county footballer and manager Tom Scullion has been described as a “legend of club and county” GAA following his death yesterday aged 81.
Mr Scullion, from Ballyscullion Lane in Bellaghy, was a former primary school principal.
He was part of the breakthrough Derry county panel which made it to a historic first ever All-Ireland final in 1958 where they were defeated by Dublin.
While Mr Scullion did not play in the final, he did win an Ulster Senior championship medal with Derry the same year.
