Sped off the tracks in philadelphia. Heres a live picture above the mangled remains of the train. Recovery crews are working to find any other victims right now. About a dozen people are still missing. We know at least seven people died and we just learned the names of one of the victims overnight. Eight people are in critical condition. The attorney for the amtrak engineer at the controls says his client doesnt remember what happened. Now we know the train was going too fast heading into a curve. That information was recorded on the trains event data recorder but investigators are looking at everything that happened in the moments before the train flew off the tracks. Cadaver dogs discovering the body of yet another victim, bringing the death toll to eight. And tonight comes late word that the engineer at the controls of the speeding train has agreed to speak to the ntsb. Investigators also revealing data showing the train was accelerating, shortly before it reached the fateful curve, but unable to slow in time. The National Transportation safety board has recovered the black box from the wreckage. The train hit a tight curve on the north side traveling more than twice the posted speed limit of 50 Miles Per Hour. More than 100 Miles Per Hour it was traveling at the time. The engineer now identified as Brandon Bostian of new york slammed on the emergency brakes seconds before the engine and seven cars derailed. At least seven people died in the crash.
