One of Utah’s most wealthy counties, Summit County, is accusing the Utah Legislature of doing a “favor” for a developer, Dakota Pacific Real Estate, and usurping local control. A Republican lawmaker, Rep. Casey Snider, is accusing the county of being in “violation of state law” for not doing its part to address affordable housing. It’s turned into an ugly public debate.
Novel coronavirus cases have been rising in Summit County and with the increase in cases, the county’s transmission risk was increased from low to medium on May 12 – the only part of the state with the designation as of Thursday morning.
