But it s a bit early to batten down the hatches, according to National Weather Service meteorologists. The first system, which may hit Friday, is likely to bring only a wintry mix, while the second is still swirling in the Pacific Ocean.
Still, it s not hard to see why North Jersey residents may be shell-shocked in the wake of Monday s storm, which dropped more than 30 inches of snow in parts of Morris and Sussex counties and about 2 feet everywhere else.
It s not clear whether it broke New Jersey s standing record for snowfall, set in 1899 when a storm hid Cape May under 34 inches, said New Jersey state climatologist Dr. David Robinson.
Mega-sites in Bergen, Burlington and Gloucester counties were already scheduled to be closed on Monday.
Bergen County also closed their vaccination site for Tuesday. Appointments that were scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will be honored Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday with proof of the original appointment, spokesperson Derek Sands said.
State officials did not say when Tuesday s appointments would be rescheduled. Individual health care providers will be reaching out via phone, email and/or text to reschedule, Gov. Phil Murphy said.
Murphy asked New Jerseyans to call the state s vaccine call center 855-568-0545 for information if they hadn t already been contacted.

Out of vaccine and overwhelmed by demand, Bergen County says it has stopped registering people for coronavirus vaccinations and is switching to a new system that will better handle requests.
“All appointments for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are currently filled,” County Executive James Tedesco said in a Facebook post and on the county web site Monday morning. “Appointments will become available as additional vaccine doses are received from the State of New Jersey Department of Health.”
