The Crown says Zhao told Gu to carry out the murder in August 2017. He also directed a clean-up of the crime scene and the dumping of Wang’s body. Lawyers for Zhao and Gu say the Crown’s case hinges on the evidence of convicted drug dealer Yanlong Piao, also known as Tony Piao. They say he is a liar. Detectives had been told by Piao that Wang had been murdered two years ago and that his body was buried in the Desert Road area.
