Tomorrow s World - Office of the Future

Tomorrow s World - Office of the Future In this compilation of reports from a longer programme, James Burke becomes an executive in a futuristic office where the role of a secretary has been usurped by an automated robot. Derek Cooper also reports on a new process for manufacturing micro-electronic crystal lights and visits a South Dakota laboratory deep underground where scientists are collecting information about the sun. In the report on the underground laboratory, Derek Cooper refers to the final resting place of Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok and other noted cowboys of the Wild West. This is Mount Moriah Cemetery in Deadwood, South Dakota. Many of the more apocryphal legends of the old West came via Buffalo Bill Cody s touring shows, the cast for which included Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok and Annie Get Your Gun Oakley.

Highbridge s annual ceremony at Frank Foley statue for World Holocaust Day halted

Highbridge’s annual ceremony at Frank Foley statue for World Holocaust Day halted The annual ceremony to commemorate World Holocaust Day at Highbridge’s Frank Foley Statue won’t take place next week due to the Coronavirus lockdown, it has been confirmed, but residents are being encouraged to hold a moment of silence at home instead. Highbridge War Memorial Trust usually holds the annual commemoration on January 27th, conducted by members of the Highbridge Clergy when wreaths are laid besides the statue. For the first time since the statue was installed, the event won’t go ahead. Derek Cooper, one of the organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Sadly, with the current lockdown we can’t hold a ceremony this year but we are encouraging local people to hold their own moment of silence safely at home instead to mark the occasion.”
