MONTROSE A 61-year old Montrose woman has been charged with second degree arson after allegedly burning a trailer to the ground on Sunday.
Carla Shreve, who police say used a cigarette lighter to ignite the blaze, is currently lodged in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.
Deputy Z.T. Pingley of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene on 322 Prosperous Lane for a suspected arson call to 911, according to the criminal complaint. Once on scene Pingley spoke to members of the Leading Creek Volunteer Fire Department, who stated that Shreve admitted to setting the trailer on fire.

ELKINS Twin brothers are facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening the lives of multiple people, including a Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Dennis Lee Bennett, 43, of Philippi, is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and two counts of conspiracy to commit wanton endangerment with a firearm. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only by Randolph County Magistrate Tracy Harper.
Walter James Bennett, 43, of Mill Creek, is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and two counts of conspiracy to commit wanton endangerment with a firearm, and one count of retaliation against public officers and employees, jurors and witnesses. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only by Harper.
