Mongolian nationals arriving from abroad to be put in 10-day mandatory isolation

In connection with the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 detected in South Africa, Mongolia will not allow the entry of foreign nationals arriving from countries that have cases of the new COVID-19 variant as well as those transiting through the countries. As for Mongolian nationals who travelled through countries that have detected such cases, the State Emergency Commission has decided to have the citizens put in a 10-day mandatory isolation. As of November 27, the Omicron variant has been detected in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Belgium, Israel, and Hong Kong. Thus, in connection with the classification of the new COVID-19 variant as a ‘Variant of Concern’, Head of the State Emergency Commission, Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan announced the decisions that were made at the commission meeting, with the input of medical experts.
