Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston s leadership of the council has been thrown into crisis after senior councillors called for him to quit over alleged consistent poor conduct and behaviour .
ENGINEERS behind a micro pub vision turned down amid fears drunks would wander onto the A66 have their “fingers crossed” fresh plans will be approved. Russell Towers has spent almost three years renovating the derelict hall at St Cuthbert’s Church and community centre, off Newport Road, in Middlesbrough. But efforts aimed to create the “best real ale bar” in town – selling craft beers by night and coffees by day – were scuppered by an eight-nil vote by Middlesbrough Council planning committee in November. Now fresh blueprints have been lodged to the authority once again – with developers hoping for a reversal of fortunes.
