LONDON - Deputy Hobie Daugherty of the Laurel County Sheriffâs Office is investigating a shooting which occurred on Saturday afternoon, June 26, at approximately 3:04 PM.Â
Sheriff s investigators were called to the scene of a shooting in a business parking lot west of London and upon arrival found a 28-year-old male subject with a gunshot wound to the chest.Â
The injured individual was treated at the scene by ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and airlifted by PHI 2 helicopter to UK med center in Lexington for treatment. Another involved male subject at the scene was interviewed by Sheriff s investigators.Â

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler and Deputy Marcus Stigall were called out to a business parking lot off Rocky Branch Road, about 4 miles South of London, on suspicious person complaint. Deputies arrived to find 35-year-old Jimmy Jones of London and determined he was under the influence. During the investigation Jones began creating a disturbance, cursing and refusing to follow commands. After a brief scuffle Jones was taken into custody. He also threatened deputies during his arrest. Jones was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on drug charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a woman is facing charges, accused of leaving a child alone in a home while she was intoxicated. Deputy Greg Poynter, along with Deputy Brent France, Deputy Marcus Stigall and CSO Brian France responded to a disturbance complaint at a home on Keavy Road. When they arrived at the scene, they found 28-year-old Kayla Slusher was apparently locked out of the house. When they investigated further, they found out she was under the influence and caring for a child who was inside the home. Slusher is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and public intoxication. She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center and later released.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says K-9/Shift Sgt. Gary Mehler and Deputy Marcus Stigall responded to a call of an abandoned car on McWhorter Road that was blocking traffic. When they arrived, they found the car in a blind curve with no lights on and no one in the front seat, but a four-year-old girl was in the back seat alone and crying. When deputies started to get into the car to get the child, a woman, later identified as 33-year-old Ashley Mullins of East Bernstadt, walked up. Mullins told deputies she ran out of gas and went to get help, leaving the child in the car. During the investigation, deputies found she was under the influence. She told police she had snorted meth and had been smoking marijuana. They also found she was driving on a suspended driver’s license. Mullins was arrested and charged with DUI, wanton endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, driving on a suspended li
