President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has welcomed the decision of Twitter - the American microblogging and social networking service - to establish its African Headquarters in Ghana.
Reacting to the announcement which was made by Twitter co-founder and CEO, Jack Dorsey on Twitter on April 12, 2021, the President said the development was the start of a partnership that will help develop Ghana s technological sector.
President Akufo-Addo also revealed that he held a virtual meeting with Dorsey on April 7, 2021, before the deal was finalised.
He tweeted: The choice of Ghana as HQ for Twitter’s Africa operations is EXCELLENT news. Gov’t and Ghanaians welcome very much this announcement and the confidence reposed in our country.
UEFA is launching a public awareness campaign – ‘Cleaner Air, Better Game’ – during the
European Under-21 Championship that will take place in Hungary and Slovenia to highlight the growing threat to public health of air pollution, which annually claims more than 8 million lives around the world.
During the group (24–31 March) and knockout (31 May – 6 June) stages, UEFA will lead a range of pilot initiatives that underline its commitment to making the championships a carbon-neutral event.
Among these initiatives,
a dedicated Count Us In platform will invite the European football community to commit to small lifestyle changes to help improve air quality: walking or cycling more, moderating domestic heating or reducing food wastage. Each pledge will be added to a counter that converts commitments into real-life carbon savings.

The Greater Manchester Surgical Cancer Hub has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Local Covid-19 Response Partnership Award’ at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2021.
The hub was set up by the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance in April in order to help keep vital cancer services running across Greater Manchester in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The hub allows urgent life-saving cancer surgeries to take place at The Christie and Rochdale Infirmary.
Since the hub was set up more than 2,000 patients have received urgent cancer care during the Covid-19 pandemic with no recorded cases of the virus being reported as a result of them presenting for treatment.
