Updated: 10:47 PM EST Jan 21, 2021 A man who was shot by an Orange County deputy and left paralyzed has filed a civil rights lawsuit.Attorneys for Abrahan Canaan filed the suit against eight Orange County Sheriff s Office deputies.The lawsuit claims authorities used excessive force when they shot Canaan outside of a Walmart.Deputies say Canaan came out of the store holding a knife and tried to run them over with his car. The Sheriff s Office says the deputies fired the shots to try to get the car to stop.Canaan was hit and is now confined to a wheelchair.WESH 2 reached out to the Sheriff s Office which said it cannot comment on pending litigation.
