PCSD will be submitting a request to the Board of Supervisors for 400 to 450 body-worn cameras and tasers.
Sheriff Chris Nanos will go before the Supervisors on May 11 with a request of $1.6 million asking for the equipment. We are the only agency in Pima County that does not have it, the sheriff said. So, it s time. I ve been working with the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Huckelberry and they agree.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - With the number of officer applications dropping across the nation including in Tucson, the Pima County Sheriffâs Department (PCSD) is working to overcome obstacles by recruiting more deputies.
To simulate real-world scenarios, recruits for the PCSD are tested in obstacle courses, fence climbing, and other exercises during training.
âI wanted to challenge myself to the next level and see what Iâm really capable of doing, and also want to try to give back to the community,â said Farhan Mohamed, recruit for PCSD.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Barricades are going up across the country as concern of violence grows ahead of the Inauguration.
In Arizona, fencing was put up around the state capitol Friday.
“There is a good deal of online chatter,” said Acting Deputy Secretary of the Dept. of Homeland Security, Ken Cuccinelli. “This isn’t just about Washington, by the way. There’s also conversations about state capitols, though very unspecified.”
