An investigation is underway after a fast-moving fire in Pembroke sent two people to a hospital and destroyed their home. Some neighbors said they were woken up by what sounded like an explosion, and the next thing they knew, somebody was knocking at their door asking to use their phone.Fire officials said they were called to the home at 667 Borough Road at about 11:20 p.m. Monday. Our first-arriving chief officer observed heavy fire in the back of the building and requested a second alarm right away, said Deputy Fire Chief Rob Farley.There were two people home at the time, and both were out of the house when firefighters arrived.
