A couple escaped the blaze at 623 Winter St. before one of them re-entered the burning structure to try to get the dogs to safety, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services said in a statement. According to Boston 25 News, firefighters found that person, who later died, trapped on the second floor of the home near a bedroom. “Both (people) were transported to a local hospital,” the statement said. “One person succumbed to their injuries. The dogs perished.”
