140 DDC members take oath across 10 districts in Jammu division
According to a Government spokesperson, the members took oath in their respective district headquarters.
Jammu Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chauhan administered the oath to the 14 DDC members, including five women, at a function here. Four of them took oath in Dogri language, six in Hindi, three in English and one in Punjabi.
Similar swearing-in ceremonies took place in Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur, Doda, Samba, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi and Poonch districts. (AGENCIES)

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], December 28 (ANI): Newly elected District Development Council (DDC) members were sworn in on Monday across the Jammu Division, marking the establishment of three-tier Panchayati raj system.
The oath ceremony was held at all district headquarters swearing-in elected 14 members of the District Development Council.
At Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chauhan administered the oath to the newly elected DDC member at a function at the Teachers Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar.
Four candidates took their oaths in Dogri (language), six did so in Hindi, three in English and one in Punjabi.

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], December 23 (ANI): The People s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), an alliance of seven political parties, has won over 90 seats and BJP 70 seats in the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir according to results available till 11:20 pm on Tuesday. The counting of votes is continuing on seats where results have not been declared.
According to State Election Authority, the National Conference (NC) has won 56 seats, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 26 seats, Indian National Congress (INC) 21, and the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) 10. The JK People s Conference (JKPC) has secured six seats so far while Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) has won three seats. Independent candidates have won 43 seats.
