The New South Wales Premier, Police Deputy Commissioner and Chief Health Officer have presented a unified message denouncing rulebreakers running roughshod over the health advice amid Sydney’s escalating COVID-19 outbreak.
It comes after the state recorded 50 locally acquired cases overnight, marking the highest daily count since last year, with at least 26 infectious individuals in the community before being identified.

NSW recorded 50 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said 37 of those new cases were infectious while in the community.
“That is the number we need to get down to as close to zero as possible,” she said.
A man was caught hiding behind a shower curtain while another pretended he was dropping off a package when busted by police at an illegal house party amid Sydney s lockdown.
Eight men between the ages of 31 and 50 were found at the home on Arthur Street in Randwick, in the city s east at about 1.20pm on Friday after police were called.
Officers spoke to two men outside the house with one pretending he was dropping off a delivery despite having no package in his hands.
Upon entering the home the group of men were found scattered across different rooms with one trying his luck behind the bathroom shower curtain.

Gladys Berejiklian‘s earnest plea to people to “tell the truth” to contact tracers followed by NSW Police announcing a shit tonne of fines they’ve issued in the last 24 hours is giving me whiplash.
Earlier today at this morning’s daily COVID press conference, NSW Health confirmed 50 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 today, 26 of which were infectious in the community. At least 13 of those total cases are under investigation, which prompted Berejiklian and NSW Chief Medical Officer
Kerry Chant to call on people in NSW to tell the truth to contact tracers.
“Please tell the truth from the first minute rather than after repeated conversations, because otherwise, you put your closest family and friends at the greatest risk, and that is something we don’t want to see,” Berejiklian said.
