Feedback from many consultants positively disposed to Sláintecare contract
The development of a four to five year multi-annual plan under the Sláintecare strategy and action plan ‘to get rid of waiting lists’ is advanced and about to be submitted to the Minister for Health the latest Oireachtas Health Committee meeting has heard (June 9).
This would be the barometer of the success of Sláintecare, Laura Magahy, Deputy Secretary, Sláintecare Implementation Office told Committee members.
During the online meeting, she said a lot of work had been completed over the last four months on the complex waiting list plan. Waiting time targets were 12 weeks for inpatients; 10 weeks for outpatients and 10 days for diagnostics.

One of the overall aims of the agricultural science curriculum at Leaving Certificate level is to promote farm safety, according to Minister for Education, Norma Foley.
A focus of the curriculum if for students to “develop their scientific knowledge and skills, in the context of agricultural practices, and increase their awareness of health and safety issues associated with these practices”.
The minister was responding (written) to a parliamentary question on the inclusion of a farm safety section in the agricultural science curriculum at secondary school level from Deputy Colm Burke.
Minister Foley said that a key part of the curriculum at Leaving Certificate level is the concept of working safely, and that specific learning outcomes are dedicated to safe working practices in agriculture.
Community Assessment Hubs demonstrate importance of community healthcare – Burke

Community Assessment Hubs opened to treat people with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 demonstrate the importance and of community care with more than 12,000 appointments attended, a Fine Gael TD has said.
Deputy Colm Burke, Fine Gael’s spokesperson on Health, has praised the efforts of frontline healthcare workers who have provided this service to assess people with suspected or confirmed cases of Covid and decide whether they can manage their illness at home or should attend a hospital.
Deputy Burke said: “The first Community Assessment Hubs (CAHs) opened in April last year to provide a timely clinical assessment for patients who may or may not have Covid-19.
Regulation of Home Care providers by Department of Health will guarantee safe care – Burke

The decision by Government to introduce legislation to provide for the regulation of professional home care providers will help guarantee safe and secure care, a Fine Gael TD has said.
Deputy Colm Burke, Fine Gael’s health spokesman, has welcomed Government approval for the drafting of a General Scheme and Heads of a Bill to establish a licensing framework for publicly funded, for-profit and not-for-profit home support providers.
This follows the introduction of the Health (Amendment) (Professional Home Care) Bill 2020 to the Dáil last year by Deputy Burke and Deputy Emer Higgins to ensure home-support services are properly regulated and meet the adequate criteria in order to hold a licence to operate.
