A beached sailboat near Sunset Beach in Lower Township was still smoldering Tuesday morning after an overnight fire. The boat had been on the beach since October. Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
Assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police will visit the Lower Township Police Department Dec. 7 and 8 to determine whether it meets standards for accreditation, Chief Kevin Lewis said Monday.
