19 minutes our campaign realizes there are more constructive ways for us to connect to voters than a mad dash to spend $50 to get a $1 contribution. while the national platforms are helpful, our campaign is focused on the old school tactics like taking our message directly to voters and caucus goers in the communities of the early states. realistically when you re talk bth 8 million, 10 million, 13 million people watching, are old school tactics enough? well, i think that the only message you can have if you didn t make the debate stage is the message that tim ryan has. i don t think it s going to be particularly effective. i mean, you cannot pass up as a national candidate an opportunity to speak to, you know, 15, maybe even 20 million people on one night even if you just get a couple minutes to do it in, on a crowded debate stage. so i think some of these candidates who are not qualifying for the debates and, also, who are not really making
baffling. these are people that are serving the public interest. and again, we can quibble about how many people are involved here. but the message this sends to people who are sacrificing their country is a really bad one. particularly for a president who continually professes to be so pro military. again, you have to put this in a broader context. this is a president who expressed a desire to get rid of birth right citizenship and this seems dangerously like we re heading in that direction. i want to talk to you, danny, about this as a personal issue. you were born abroad. is your dad in the military? right? father in the military. naturalized citizen, born to u.s. citizens abroad in japan, so it s almost you d be fine under the new rules if these rules were in effect when you were born? yes, barely, because my citizenship comes actually from a couple different places. because i was immediately a citizen when born to u.s. citizens this one would not affect me. this affects
extremely, you know, all our buildings are very, very wind resistant. what we ve been doing is checking our pump systems. we re about ready to open our emergency operations center and checking to make sure everything is functioning properly. and also there are things that are somewhat out of our control as a city like utilities that have a huge impact on our residents. when electricity goes down and it went down about 80% of the city was without electricity after irma. you have issues related to food distribution. you have issues related to elderly people that are without air conditioning and a lot of heat and those are things that we bought water, ice for, pre-irma and avoided some of the catastrophes we saw in broward and other places. that speaks to what we just heard from ken graham which is the social science part of this. what is the message you re giving to residents of your city right now? the message is simple. the message is you have to take this seriously. the message is
