those folks in the pacific northwest. we have got two storm systems here and the one we have been most concerned about throughout the day today is the low that s been off the coast here, and that s been bringing some in freezing rain across some of the big cities of the northeast. new york city the good news is you have changed over to all rain now, so we re not real worried, maybe bridges and overpasses could be a little slick. providence is getting a little bit of a mix of wintry weather there. and boston has seen a little bit of snow coming down and we do expect it to transition into sleet and eventually changing over into some of this rain. it is causing major problems at the airport. both of these systems, along with some fog out to the west. look at the delays to get into logan airport, 3 1/2 hours, laguardia about an hour and a half. jfk about 40 minute departure delays so that s getting out of jfk. and chicago, you ve got windy conditions so departure delays about 30 minutes th
this is the beginning of a busy christmas holiday. christmas day, looking at snow in huntsville. and wait until you see what is ahead. and travel, to houston, departure delays. it is nice to see one delay on this map, 24 hours from now, it will look different as the storm goes through the northeast. that will cause delays. travel through tennessee and north georgia, it is snowing in chattanooga, and up to knoxville, pockets of snow, through paducah, and memphis. on i-20, we will see the change, from rain to snow shortly. the temperatures in the mid to upper 30s, the wind from the, in the pulling down the colder air. we could see several inches of snow in northern alabama, and
you get into the piedmont, and we re going to see a couple inches there. we might see a little wintry mix from time to time as well. so use caution on the interstates. if you have air travel plans as well, the only two delays are both chicago right now. about an hour and a half at o hare. about 30-minute departure delays at midway. so that s the difference between these two. a ground delay means people who are taking off to get into o hare have that type of a wait. and the departure delays at midway means people who are trying to get out of midway are having delays. but i do think some of those airports could have issues. make sure you call your carrier ahead of time. by the way, there have been over 300 days or cancellations, rather, out of o hare today because of this weather system. now, where s this thing going and what s going to happen? it s a real fast mover. for the most part, this thing will be out of here by tomorrow. we ll watch this low pressure developing off the coast.
