AWARDS have been handed out to former students virtually after the coronavirus pandemic hit a college’s traditional ceremony. Colchester Sixth Form College usually hosts a glitzy awards and reunion evening at which past pupils who have excelled are honoured. This year’s awards celebration, however, had to be moved online as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak and stringent social distancing and travelling measures. Among the top award winners was Jemima Ngu, now at Exeter University, who was given the Departmental Award for Mathematics and College Award for Contribution to the College Community. Ismay Hathaway, who is studying medicine in Sheffield, scooped four awards including the departmental awards for chemistry, mathematics and biology.
