Test. Test. Test. Test. Jennifer wextomoments if y respond to the questions that you were not allowed to answer when they were asked. You had to be still while, they threw more insults your way, but if you would like to take time to respond now, you have that time. I appreciate that. You know, obviously, the reason i took this job is because i feel that our country is in trouble. And we need to do everything we can to provide the right kinds of opportunities. At hud, for instance, an organization that was largely focused on just getting people into programs, getting people under a roof, and thats not a bad thing, but i really want to maneuver us to a place where were getting people out of programs and to a level of selfsufficiency. We have really aimed at that. And the question that was asked about homelessness, this is a very serious problem and one that i think is solvable in our country. Administrations decision to withdraw u. S. Troops from Northern Syria. Good afternoon, everyone. I want to welcome you all to todays meeting on u. S. Turkish relations, the shifting nature of two nato allies. I am currently the director of the International Security program at george mason university, and it is a great pleasure too preside over todays discussion on the topic that i i think is particularly compelling. So, in our topsyturvy world where we write love letters to authoritarians and publicly disparagee our allies, its kind of interesting to think where does the u. S. Turkey turkish relations in the spectrum from how we treat allies and authoritarians. It seems to fit into every category or maybe none coming and maybe we will figure ou out today how special is the case of u. S. Turkish relations. Its of course been a tumultuous relationship, one where the executive branch and congress dont always see eye to eye. Is it fundamentally a Security Partnership or do we have a stake
Of the Trump Administrations muslim ban, i would like to welcome the members of t the subcommittee and oversight and investigations to this hearing. We are happy to be working on this important issue with you all today. Id also like to thank all of the majorityminority members in staff of both subcommittees for coordination and flexibility while planning this joint hearing particularly given the cancellation of yesterdays vote, i want to note that because of the cancellation not every member is able to be here today, but i did make a point of talking to mr. Columns and mr. Buck to be assure that they would be okay with proceeding and they assured me that they were since mr. Bigg and zeldon will be here, we do appreciate that flexibility and our opportunity to learn more and to probe issues about this matter. I really do think the hearing in many ways is overdue for 2 and a half years the administration has been allowed to arbitrarily ban from predominantly muslim countries and no overs
